Lt Gen Devendra Sharma Visits Indian Military Academy, Dehradun

Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), visited the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, on 03 February 2026.

During his visit, Lt Gen Sharma carried out a detailed review of the training environment and facilities at the Academy. He expressed satisfaction with the advanced infrastructure and intensive training framework in place, which aims to equip Officer Cadets with the skills and mindset required to meet the dynamic demands of contemporary warfare. The Army Commander also acknowledged the efforts of the instructors and staff in fostering a learning atmosphere that effectively integrates military heritage with modern instructional practices.

Addressing the faculty and Officer Cadets, Lt Gen Sharma highlighted the significance of integrity, professional competence, and commitment to service. He encouraged the young cadets to lead with strong moral foundations while continuously adapting to technological and tactical advancements on the battlefield.

As part of the visit, the Veteran Achiever Award was presented to Subedar (Honorary Captain) Raghubir Singh Bhandari (Retd) of the 15 Garhwal Rifles for his exceptional contribution to the veteran community after retirement. His persistent work in assisting more than 300 ex-servicemen and widows with pension, ECHS, and reimbursement-related matters was praised as a remarkable example of lifelong dedication to service.

The visit reinforced ARTRAC’s unwavering focus on high-quality officer training and reflected the Indian Army’s continued emphasis on ethical leadership, operational excellence, and meaningful engagement with veterans and their welfare.
